PRACTICAL SOLUTIONS FOR COMPLEX ISSUES IN THE HIP AND KNEE :
Artro Institute was involved in the Hip & Knee course organised by Pr. Steven Mc Donald,
Orthopaedic surgeon in London Ontario, Canada, that took place last April 26-27 in Miami. The event was sponsored by DePuy and forty North-American surgeons participated. The course involved an international faculty, with speakers from Canada, United-States and Europe. Michel Bonnin MD, was representing Artro Institute and presented the history, the technique including tips and tricks, and the results of the Corail Hip prosthesis. He made also presentations about the technique of cup placement in THA, the technique of THA in sequelae of congenital hip dislocation and in case of hip dysplasia. He also detailed the place of dual mobility cups and threaded HA cups (Spiriofit) in revision THA with severe bone loss on the acetabulum. The first day of the course was dedicated to knee arthroplasty and he presented his work about sport participation and patient’s satisfaction after TKA.
A lab session was organized on Thursday afternoon at the Miami Anatomical Research Center. In this outstanding facility, we were able to teach all the details, basic principles and tips and tricks for the implantation of a Corail Stem. Several fresh specimen were available and surgeons trained either through a posterior, lateral or direct anterior approach. Thanks to the efficient involvement of DePuy staff, all the instrumentation was on the tables.
